We are happy to inform you that Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G services in India at the India Mobile Congress on 1st October 2022. The prime minister will open the marquee four-day event next month where leading telecom companies such as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea will talk about their 5G plans for the country while a plethora of participants including gear makers, tower providers and ecosystem players will showcase their technologies and use cases on 5G.
5G Test Bed, developed as a multi institute collaborative project by a total of eight institutes led by IIT Madras. The other institutes that participated in the project include IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IISc Bangalore, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER) and Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT). The project has been developed at a cost of more than Rs. 220 crore. The Test Bed will enable a supportive ecosystem for Indian industry and startups which will help them validate their products, prototypes, solutions and algorithms in 5G and next generation technologies.

The Department of Telecommunications in association with Cellular Operators Association of India is organizing the sixth edition of Asia’s largest Digital Technology Event, India Mobile Congress 2022 from 1st to 4th October 2022, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The theme of IMC 2022 is ‘New Digital Universe’. The event is expected to attract over 70,000 visitors, more than 7,000 CXO’s, over 350 partners & exhibitors, over 250 start-ups and more than 300 speakers. The event will be inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister. The IMC 2022 is giving a special emphasis on building a strong ecosystem for the growth of start-ups driven by 5G and new emerging technologies. There are structured sessions on 5G and beyond, live use cases on 5G and related technology which will be of great interest to the Universities/Engineering institutions, their students and faculty.
